The President of The United Cricket Club of Waterbury, CT is pleased to announce its membership with Commonwealth Cricket League of New York. This dramatic move is as a result of the recent unwarranted battle with Southern Connecticut Cricket Association. Seeking redress in court would have certainly resulted in a reversal order of their foolish action; but that would not have found favor with our Members. Therefore, it would not have been money prudently spent.  An explanation of the aforementioned battle is stated hereunder.

At our Club’s 12th Annual Conference I presented the President's Report in which I was critical of the League as follows:

"It is with great sadness and deep concern that I report to you that our League, The Southern Connecticut Cricket Association, is “fallen and can’t get up”. The Leadership continues to ignore the Constitution, By-laws and Policies of the League, and adopt dictatorial rule; while the Judicial Committee, being unable to comprehend simple English Language let alone interpreting the law, make decisions based on their own self-interest and gut feelings. And to add more salt to the wound, most Board of Directors represent their own self-interest, ignore the interest of the League, worry more about ending meetings to go home early and care less if laws are violated or the Budget is disregarded. I am proud that our Representative is not one of those.

As a Founding Member and a Stake Holder, we must put an end to these shameless and failed practices."

Also, at our Club’s 11th Annual Conference I presented the President's Report in which I was critical of the League as follows:

“As a Founding Member of The Southern Connecticut Cricket Association, it is our duty to ensure that is kept alive and well. This is why we must remain associated with it notwithstanding the dictatorial and unlawful practices of its Leadership, and mindful of the crisis situation they plunged the League into. Last year I reported to you that even though I had resigned as Chairman of the League’s Judicial Committee, my role and our Club’s role would be “critical support”: constructive criticism when they step out of bounds and support when they fall in line”. I meant well. Unfortunately when the Team Manager and I showed up at a Board of Directors Meeting, the President unilaterally changed the procedures which disallowed us to speak. It was an act of dictatorship and vindictiveness. What a coward he is!

Today, the Board of Directors has become a Rubber-stamp and a toothless poodle. The President and his Executives spend beyond budget then come to the Board for approval, Meetings are being disrupted or lacked a quorum to indicate disapproval, the President and the Executives express anger and childishness when they fail to have it their way, and the President continues to violate the Constitution and By-laws and insults justice to the extent that our own McCarthy Punter was suspended without Notice of a Hearing, let alone a trial. What a shame!

We will and must continue to work hard to change the dismal path of this League.”

These President’s Reports were unanimously approved at the respective Conferences by our Members. The 2009 Report was recently posted on our Website after the removal of the 2008 Report. This is customary.

We received a letter dated 12/22/2009 from the President of the League (SCTCA) with the following excerpt:

“As a result of our meeting, we ask that the United Cricket Club withdraw all such derogatory and baseless commentary from its website with immediate effect. Additionally, we request that no further unsubstantiated comments of that nature be posted on that or any other website. This action must be completed by no later than the close of business on December 31, 2009, and by that date the United Cricket Club must also send written assurance to the Board that it will cease and desist from making such public comments. Failure to do so, will precipitate action against your club that may include fines and/or suspensions in the 2010 season.

We urge you to take this matter seriously, as this could potentially affect your club and its members’ participation in league events.”

The United Cricket Club along with those who respect democracy, rights and freedom, categorically know that this is a flagrant violation of our Constitutional Rights and Liberties and a rude intrusion of our internal affairs.

The SCTCA’s Leadership throw stones while they live in glass houses. It is right for them to criticize other organizations even USACA and its Leaders, but it is wrong for anyone to criticize them. This is hypocrisy at its best.

At an Emergency Executive Committee Meeting, it was unanimously agreed that we respond to the League by Letter informing them that Our Club was resolved not to accede to their demands/requests in their letter dated 12/22/2009.

Our Members must be commended for being steadfast throughout this battle; and for vehemently rejecting those wicked and shameless persons who were encouraging them to defect!

And what a blessing in disguise this has proven to be: We are a proud member of the Commonwealth Cricket League!
